The 2009-2010 NHL season was as intense as ever, and Canadian teams were full of players who would go that extra mile for their teammates. Feeding off Canadian’s love of watching hockey and desire to debate every aspect of the game, Sportsnet and WingStreet combined to launch, ‘The WingStreet Wingman Face-Off’.
Viewers were engaged through Sportsnet’s integrated range of creative platforms. The challenge? To ultimately defend their home team in answering the question ‘does your team have the ultimate wingman.’ Fans were presented with an opportunity to select from their current home teams roster and vote for their team’s ultimate wingman. After all the home team wingmen were decided, they faced-off coast to coast to determine who was the ultimate Canadian home team hockey wingman!
In the end 36,000 total votes were cast and Toronto Maple Leafs winger Phil Kessel was voted as the ultimate wingman in the final voting phase.
